My friend Amy has tagged me for a "Jingle" post. She wanted to know if I had my jingle on. And I'm happy to say I have started some preparations for the Christmas holidays. I don't like to do too much before Thanksgiving, because well, I just love the fall season and don't like to rush it. So there will be no holiday music, decorating or the such until the day after Thanksgiving. But, as we all know it takes some time to get prepared for all the holiday fun so I have started on some things.
First of all we actually have our Christmas card done...well the final proof is being approved today. This is a huge feat in itself. Usually, WB and I keep waiting for the perfect setting and weather to take our family picture. Like the year we kept waiting for just a dusting of snow on the canyon for our backdrop, or the year we waited until we went to Lubbock for the Carol of Lights and then our batteries went dead after two clicks. You get the idea. Our Christmas cards in years past have ended up being Happy New Year cards, but not this year. We had a photographer come out to our house a few weeks ago and she is designing our Christmas card for this year. Whoopee, yee-haw, I got my jingle on!!
Secondly, we are celebrating a Pioneer Christmas this year ( I will be dedicating several posts to this starting next week). Guess what? The pioneers started getting ready for Christmas months in advance. That is what you must do when you're doing everything from scratch. So we've been dying, sewing, pounding, freezing, collecting around here for a few weeks now. It has been great fun and I can't wait to share some of it with you. It's kind of been our frugal and educational approach to the holidays, as well a lot of family fun:)
Okay, so do you have your jingle on? I'm supposed to pass this on to 3 of my friends so you can share with us what you've been up to so I'm going to pass it on to:
Connie
MaddieLynn
Karen
Many other of my blogging friends have already done some posts about Christmas so check out my blogroll to see what they are up too!!

Random Tag
My friend Amy has tagged me. I must list 6 random things about myself. I believe I have done this before, but because I am full of randomness I'm sure I can come up with six more:)
1. I just got back from the ear doctor and found out the eardrum that has been sucked back into my head for the last several years has now developed a hole in it. Which, I believe is a pretty random occurrence.
2. I talk to myself. Soph has confessed to me several times that she does this. Sometimes she's talking to dead people and dogs, sometimes herself. Before you call social services the dead people she "talks" to are my grandparents and Champy. Anyways, I do this too, so I am not alarmed.
3. I make up plots in my head constantly. It's the writer in me but every odd character, any weird or even everyday occurrence I come across has a story. The poor toads in our garden even have their own little fable. Now sitting down and actually getting to write it is a different story.
4. I've just learned how to text, yes really!
5. I hate sleeping on my stomach.
6. I hate diet drinks. Give me a coke or a caffeine free coke and I'm good to go, but please don't ask me to do the diet thing, yuckeeepoo!!
Okay, instead of tagging six of you I'm going to ask anyone who wants to to please join in. Just let me know so I can read your randomness.
Thanks Amy for tagging me!

Quirky Tag
My good friend at Smockity Frocks tagged me the other day and I've been meaning to get to it, but I've been too busy to get to it. That is over, for now anyway, so I'm on to telling you about my quirks.
1. I constantly have mini-movies playing in my head. Anything can trigger these; a smell, sound, person, the way someone talks, etc. I immediately begin to make up a story complete with cast of characters and storyline. I try to file these away for some time when I can actually write them down!
2. I can’t go to sleep at night unless some part of my body is touching my husbands, even if it means putting my cold feet on his legs.
3. I’m pretty good at reading lips. Since I have terrible ears I established this habit at a young age, it comes in handy sometimes.
4. I rescue earthworms from sidewalks and puddles. Why? Because they are God’s creatures too!
5. My lullaby to all my children has been a rendition of Swing Low, followed by Jump Down Turn Around Pick a Bale of Cotton. My mother sang this to me and I’ve carried on the tradition.
6. I put soy sauce in my wonton soup and I like my fried chicken sandwiches with mayo and ketchup only.
Here's the skinny:* Link the person who tagged you.* Mention the rules in your blog.* Tell about six unspectacular quirks of yours.* Tag a new set of six following bloggers by linking them.
Okay, so instead of tagging six specific bloggers I thought maybe you who feel like it could continue this tag. If you decide to take the challenge leave a comment here and a link to your post so we can check it out. I hope you all join in, I would love to read your quirks.

I've been tagged!
My friend Amy has tagged me. This is how it goes:
Here are the Rules: Post the rules on your blog, and then give your answers. List one fact about yourself for each letter in your middle name. Each fact must begin with a letter from your middle name. If you do not have a middle name, use your maiden name(or create a middle name).Once you are tagged, update your blog with your middle name and your answers. At the end of your post, tag one person for each letter of you middle name. Leave them a comment on their blog telling them that they have been tagged, and that they need to come read your blog for details.
Okay, my middle name is Ann and my youngest shares this same middle name. I remember my mom once telling me she wanted to name me Kara Lynn but was afraid people would call me Caroline so instead my middle name bacame Ann. St. Ann was my favorite Saint growing up, Mary's mother, and I thought having her as my Christian name was pretty cool. Alright on with the tag.
A - Autumn is my favorite season. Leaves tinted gold, red, and brown, crispness in the air, and I can just smell the hot apple cider and fresh pumpkin as it is scooped out of its shell!
N - Never say Never is a personal motto of mine. I say this to my daughters when they are complaining that they will never be able to do something... like scuba dive in the Carribean, or hopping with the kangaroos, or when they say they will never make their kids do chores.
N - Novelist. Hopefully, someday I will be known as the Novelist Kara *******.
Now I tag Pat, Connie, and Sasha.

I've been tagged!
My friend Connie tagged me to tell you all 5 things about myself you don't know. So let's see...
1. I have started working out with a personal trainer.
2. I lived with my piano teacher and her family (two sweet little girls) my senior year of high school because my Dad was transferred the summer before school started.
3. I've been known to eat more cookie dough than actual cookies, especially if they are chocolate chip.
4. I've been known to make chocolate chip cookies just so I can eat the cookie dough!!
5. And finally.... I'm pregnant (again)!!!
Just kidding, sorry I couldnt resist, but for my real number 5 I've been known to pull some practical jokes, really!
Okay, I'm fairly new to the blogging community but I'm going to tag some a new friend:
