Craziness

This last week has been entirely too crazy. The weather has gone from ice, to snow, to sun, to hurricane strength gusts of wind. We've lost water, telephone lines, DSL, and some patience along the way. WB has had crisis at work, I've had crisis under the wrapping paper, and my children are anxious for Christmas. When we go out to do anything people are acting just a little insane. You take your life in your hands when you enter the Walmart parking lot for instance. Then there is always the bell ringer and me digging in my purse for change as my toddler tries to run through the open doors with her older sisters rolling their eyes at all the chaos.

But I just finished cleaning my kitchen, which is now ready for the next round of candy making. I've settled Little One down at the table behind me for a paint craft and my older children are upstairs playing quietly. So I realized I've been away from my blog for a week! I hate when that happens, but life goes on. So here I sit happy to have a chance to write, relax and catch up with my blogging friends.

I just turned around and this is what I found:

"What are you doing?"

"Trying to get the paint out."
(she did have a painting apron on, but I guess she didn't need that)

"Hmm, I think you did."

Please tell me I'm not the only one overwhelmed by the goings on during the holiday season! Or if you're not share your secrets!!

Off to clean again:)

I little overwhelmed here as well. Busiest time of the year for Paul at work and at church. Trying so hard to keep the true meaning of Christmas alive here, but it's a struggle.

LOL Here's one secret, never give a toddler paint. Heeehee! She's too cute and you're a sweet mom for letting her be so creative. :-)

I was just thinking along the same lines today as I spent the day running from one task to another, hitting two parties in between wrapping, going to the post office to mail boxes, and trying to find all the gifts that have disappeared into the inner sanctum of my closet. Why does this craziness strike this most holy time of year??

Lisa and Pat I agree it is sometimes hard to keep the Christmas spirit alive sometimes, I treasure the quiet moments.
Jessica,
I forgot to say that all she had was these paint pens and then she snuck off to the craft closet and got the big bottles of paint when I was not paying attention...ugh!

I join you in the overwhelmed category! We actually just had a discussion about that on our homeschool group message board this morning. We are officially finished with school now so I can actually post on my blog and read others' blogs! yea!! I've been neglecting mine lately with all I've had to do.

I'm with you...the parking lots and stores are just crazy!

Hope you got all that paint cleaned up! Looks like she had lots of fun with it!

That face is so precious. Whatever mess she made was worth it so see her lovely smile.
You are in confusion because you have young ones in your home. I am not in chaos because my daughter is 25. She generally cleans up her mess. I have this to say. I remember when she was little like yours and I would love go go back just for an hour and see her little again. My sons, too.
I know you know this, but time goes so fast. Treasure every moment - messes and all. Blessings.

I am trying to treasure these moments because I know they pass quickly! In the end I just don't get everything done I'd like, but usually that is okay. I just have to scale down my plans:)

A little late I know but still relevant, I have to agree with Jessica, never leave toddlers alone with paint!! I take off their shirts and put an old t-shirt (one of mine) on them as a paint shirt, cover the table with paper and put little dabs of paint on a small paper plate. That way I control how much paint is out of the container at one time! Of course I'm usually helping 2-3 toddlers paint at the same time. Never tried paint pens, may have to look into those. Good luck!
